Here is the little silver roo I was talking about down on the other thread. He is about 5 months old here. His mother is not much bigger than an old English game. I am hoping for him to stay small.

He looks very bantam, just in features. I keep comparing my bantam Phoenix to my Serama to judge how I'm doing on size. The hens always look better to me than the cocks, maybe the big tails trick my eyes!

That's some good feathering for 5 mo! I think those are going to mature very nice for you. I like the arching tail he has there so far and the saddles are looking good as well. Keep up the good work!

I just split him from the hens. There are a few other young roosters there with him but none as good I don't think. They do have a ways to go and are from the same breeding. I hope with no hens around I will get to see his full potential!! I used modern game several generations back and I still get some hens that are real tiny like the modern game. As those smaller hens get more phoenix blood accumulated they are starting to produce some descent males. I am still using males that have good phoenix type traits but trying not to use the larger ones.

We've unknowingly mirrored each other, I believe! And I'm seeing the same results! I think I did my Modern Game cross 6 generations ago now and have favoured the small Modern-like hens paired to the slimmest, best feathered Modern cross males. I'm really starting to see the effects of the better bantamizing genes in my recent matings, and I definitely have 3 ft tails back. Sometimes my hens and cocks are almost as small as Dutch now!
