Chickens good for something

Alerted by a rooster, West Seattle family escapes a fire. The crowing of a rooster alerted Seattle family to flames engulfing their home. Giving them time to escape. firfighters found flames on outside of the house climbing into the rest of the attic. The fire was soon eztinguished but caused about $180,000.00 in damage to the home and contents.

The cause was found to be an over heated extension cord attached to a heat lamp that was being used for the chicken coop. No one injured, rooster survived as well though some tail feathers were scorched. City officials said residents are allowed as many as 3 domestic fowls in Seattle city limits.

So glad that no one was injured! They must be quite proud of their pet.

I wish more cities and towns would allow fowl.
