That is amazing! They must have been packed incredibly well and not been subjected to abuse in transit. Do you find that you have to take extra care with new imports in regards with being certain to vaccinate against pathogens that may be different from what they would encounter in their country of origin?
Toni-Marie had to vaccinate everything she imported and I was wondering if it was the same with raising imported birds in Europe?

Hi David well to tell the truth I give my birds meds as soon as possible just incase but up to now these are looking really strong and healthy there under lights at the moment! It is a job for life for me I love these birds from my Artist point of view they just have it all!, Ive even thought of getting rid of my other breeds so I can have more of these birds. With two different people I have given them birds and they have come back saying they had lots the males fighting them against Shamo?? These people drive me crazy no idea just no idea!!!!!!!!!!! But for people into keeping these birds alive my door is always open!!! Trevor

With something so rare, I think you're right to vaccinate. Yu don't want to risk it. It sounds as though you have about the same luck with people who get your birds as I have with mine. Some people, like you said, just have no idea. Congratulation on your two young enthusiasts you have there! The looks on their little faces say it all! They just look so happy with the birds. I hope they continue on with the interest. David

Can always raise the prices prohibitively high when you're putting them in the hands of people you don't know. At least if they buy a bird then, they ought to value it enough not to lose it in the pit! I have a scaling price system with some of my breeds now. I offer them for nice prices to groups that I know will value them, and I increase the price each time I take them further away from that group. *If* my longtails ever make it off this forum, they're at least $20 more expensive. With something like Satsumas, I'd probably ask a few hundred dollars if I knew people were likely to try fighting them.
