From our dear friend from Italy we received two Minohiki males when he visited last week. These guys have the 2 year molt that missed in my birds, so i'm very happy with these new boys...and terrified something might happen to them With these guys added to our stock we have the full recipe to perfect our birds.

Wow! Those are 2 fine birds Hope you get a bunch of chicks from them. I always worry about that too losing a bird before I get offspring from them. Travis

Those are both very nice, but I especially like the second photo. I'm so happy to hear that the 2 yr molt is back. Their saddles should be great! That, in my mind at least, is really what sets the Minohiki apart from Yokohama as far as the genotype. David

Very nice. Two years of feather growth really helps the look a lot, especially in filling out the saddle.

Thanks guys, yes that 2 year growth was really something i missed. Molting is otherwise a real impact on the birds i've noticed. Can't wait to see offspring from these guys x the 2 japanese girls i have (they have extreme saddles in their bloodline, so that should give an amazing combination for the offspring i hope)

I just now thought to ask. Have you noticed any other changes in feather structure or texture in the two year molters vs. other roosters you have? Anything such as narrower hackle or hackle-like feathers elsewhere on the body; beside the thighs, etc?
David

@TC David,to be honest i haven't looked closely yet. But on first sight no real differences so far. All my roosters have really narrow hackles, most are mutiple feathered like these too.
