ok, ive got a young cockerel, about 2 months old, bantam, he is barred completly so far, but if he stays this way im wandering what to breed him back to to get the barred, i dont know how he kicked out this color but he did, i was thinking first would be white, then maybe silver, or just keep him till my blacks are going good and breed him to them?????

Getting Barred as in Barred Rock instead of Crele is the same deal as with the Lavender. It won't work on anything other than a solid Black bird. Barred is a gene that works like mottling in that it can go over ANY colour pattern (Spangled as in Old English Game is actually just BB Red with mottling) so you can have a whole variety of colours that you can put it on. You could put it on Black Tailed Buff and you'd have bars on all the feathers if you wanted, for example. What colour birds did he come out of?

My guess is that he's not Barred as in Barred Rock then, right? The barring would've definitely come from the Crele, and that's going to mean he's only carrying one dose of barring, so any non-barred hen you breed him to should give you only 50% chicks showing barring. It doesn't matter what you breed him to though, you should get 50% showing barring no matter what. Pair him up with something while you're waiting for some Blacks to appear, at least that'll spread your genetic diversity around a little.
